One of the vital steps in root canal treatment is the removal of the infected pulp from the tooth’s root canals. Traditionally done with manual files, our office now uses advanced rotary endodontic technology.
Using a continuous, slow, and steady rotation, a rotary instrument removes the pulp from the root canal chambers, and cleans and shapes the root canal system.
Our rotary instruments are made of a nickel-titanium alloy, which is more flexible than the traditional stainless-steel manual files. Powered by a small electric motor, rotary tools make the root canal procedure much faster than with conventional files. They can also be equipped with a detector that allows us to locate the tip of the root and to avoid perforations.
Advantages of Rotary Endodontics
Rotary endodontics offers several advantages over manual root canal treatments:
- Faster treatment
- Increased patient comfort
- Increased reliability of treatment
- Reduced noise
- More precision
